The Roman legions were slaughtered, their standards displayed at the triumph in Persia, and the head and hands of Crassus were presented to Orodes.

Shapur defeated the Roman army of the emperor Valerian I in a stunning victory. He took the Roman emperor captive, and used him for a footstool in his royal courtroom. After Valerian died Shapur had him stuffed and put on display in the trophy room of the head temple.
