Central America Shipwreck Gold

9mm

1856 California gold octagaonal ¼ dollar BG-111 Liberty Head obverse, wreath reverse. Perhaps the most expensive per ounce artifact recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Central America. Only 4 fractional gold pieces were salvaged, and I believe this is the finest known, certified and graded PCGS MS 65 “S.S. Central America” special edition holder. Grossly underrated at this price when compared to the thousands of double eagles from the wreck.
